Myanmar Visa for Algerian Citizens
The vast majority of foreigners who plan to travel to Myanmar, including Algerians, first need to obtain a valid travel authorization. The easiest and fastest to obtain is the eVisa for Myanmar which can be requested online from anywhere in the world.
Algerian travelers are among those eligible for the online visa. On this page, they will find the Myanmar online visa requirements applicable to their nationality as well as all the documents they need to submit in order to have their visa approved.
Myanmar eVisa Conditions for Algerian Passport Holders
Different types of visas present different requirements and conditions. The eVisa (or Myanmar online visa) involves minimal paperwork.
Moreover, it does not require Algerians to visit a Burmese embassy or consulate in person. In fact, the application can be lodged entirely online without having to leave the comfort of one’s home or office.
There are 2 eVisas available to Algerian travelers:
Both permits are valid for a single entry, meaning that Algerian travelers will need to apply for a new eVisa if they leave Myanmar before the validity period of their visa is over.
Overstaying a travel permit means breaking the Myanmar visa policy and immigration law. This may result in fines and may negatively affect the overstayer’s chances to be granted a visa in the future.
Documents needed for the Burmese eVisa for Algerians
If they wish to obtain an online visa for Myanmar, Algerian citizens must fill out an application form online and possess the following documents:
- An Algerian passport valid for a minimum of 6 months
- An active email address to receive communications regarding their application as well as the approved visa
- A debit or credit card to pay the application fee
- A passport-style photograph that has been taken recently
- A letter of invitation from a registered company (business eVisa only)
- The registration number of the company writing the letter (business eVisa only)
Algerians should note that they must submit copies of the bio page of the same passport they intend to travel with. Using the same passport both for the application and to cross the Burmese border is an essential condition for the Myanmar eVisa. Failing to do so will result in the visa being deemed invalid at the border and entry being denied.
An eVisa does not represent guarantee of entry. The ultimate decision is up to the Burmese border authorities and Algerian eVisa holders should comply with their requests (such as inspecting their baggage and/ or asking them questions regarding their plans) as they go through immigration checks upon arrival.
Apply for a Myanmar Visa from Algeria
The Myanmar eVisa application only takes minutes. It is designed to be easy and straightforward so that each traveler can complete one independently. However, Algerians can help their family members or friends lodge theirs if necessary.
All Algerian applicants need in order to submit their request is a reliable internet connection as well as the supporting documentation outlined above.
In filling out the application form, Algerians will be asked the following:
- Full name and gender
- Country and date of birth
- Address, telephone number and email
- Passport details, including number, place and date of issue, expiry date
Travelers may also be required to answer a series of security and health-related questions. They may also have to provide details of their travel plans in Myanmar.
It is paramount that the information provided is complete and truthful and that the form is filled out in all of its part. Incomplete or inaccurate information may result in the visa being delayed or even denied.
Other Types of Myanmar Visas for Algerian Nationals
Algerian nationals who plan to remain in Myanmar for longer than the 28 or 70 days allowed by the eVisas and/ or that travel to the country for reasons other than tourism and business may apply for traditional visas for Myanmar.
That is the case, for example, for those who intend to work or study while in Myanmar. The application process for these visas requires more extensive paperwork than the one for the online visas. Moreover, Algerians will need to lodge their application through a Burmese embassy or consulate.
Former Myanmar citizens and residents and their families can also apply for a social visa. This is a single-entry permit with a validity of 70 days. The social visa must also be requested through an embassy.
The meditation visa is ideal for those who visit Myanmar to take part in a yoga retreat. They will need an invitation letter from the institution running the retreat. However, it may be easier for Algerians to apply for a tourist eVisa and complete their retreat as part of their travel itinerary.
Myanmar Visa on Arrival for Algerian citizens
Until the implementation of online visas, visas on arrival were the permit of choice for tourists around the world. Although they often require the traveler to wait for a long time in a queue at the airport’s immigration desk, these visas allow for great flexibility as they don’t need to be applied for prior to departure.
Unfortunately, Algerians are not eligible for the Myanmar visa on arrival. However, it is to be noted that the majority of eVisa applications are approved within 24 hours (although it’s advisable to complete the request a few days in advance to allow for potential delays).
