Myanmar eVisa for Bangladeshi Citizens
Bangladeshi citizens are required to apply for a visa in order to travel to Myanmar (formerly Burma). Since the introduction of the online travel authorization in 2014, getting a Myanmar visa in Bangladesh is a simple process that only takes a few minutes. There is no need to visit an embassy and the application can be done at any time and from anywhere in the world.
Myanmar, a country that was closed to foreigners for 50 years, is an increasingly popular tourist destination in Asia. Around 3.5 million international travelers visit Myanmar each year, attracted by its rich cultural and natural heritage.
Currently, eight ports of entry are open to arrival in Myanmar from abroad. These include three international airports (Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, and Mandalay) and several Indian and Thai land border checkpoints. Please note that it is not possible to enter the country by sea or through Bangladesh, Laos or China. However, visitors are allowed to exit Myanmar through any of these ports of entry.
Myanmar eVisa for Bangladeshi Nationals
The online Myanmar visa for Bangladeshi passport holders allows a maximum of 28 days stays for tourist purposes. At this time, Myanmar only issues visas valid for one single entry. Visitors who wish to re-enter the country need to apply for a new Myanmar visa to Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi tourists who would like to extend the Myanmar eVisa beyond 28 days are advised to contact their embassy or consulate or visit a Myanmar immigration office in Naypyitaw.
How to Get Myanmar Online Visa With Bangladeshi Passport
The visa needed to go from Bangladesh to Myanmar is simple and easy to obtain. Visa application is done entirely online and the process takes between 10 and 20 minutes from start to finish. Travelers can access the eVisa application form through the Myanmar Online Visa website.
Everyone who applies for a Myanmar eVisa, including the nationals of Bangladesh, needs to provide some basic personal and passport details and answer a few security questions.
Children under the age of 7 traveling to Myanmar with their parents’ passport do not need a separate application form. Parents, however, have to fill in the minors section in the form where they are required to enter their child’s personal details.
The traveler’s personal information required in the application form includes:
- Full name(s), exactly as they are indicated in the passport
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Home address
- Phone number
- Email address
Applicants also need to fill out all the essential passport information:
- Passport country, which must be the same as the nationality
- Passport number
- Date of issue of the passport
- Date of expiry of the passport
Finally, it is necessary to inform the authorities about the travel plans including the port of entry to Myanmar and intended travel dates.
After candidates have verified that the information entered in the application form is accurate, they are asked to pay the Myanmar eVisa processing fee. This payment is done through a secure online payment system. After that, it takes approximately 3 business days to obtain visa approval by email. Applicants can at any time check their visa application status online.
It is recommended to print the online visa before traveling so that it can be presented along with the passport at the border. Note that the entry to Myanmar is at the sole discretion of the border immigration officer.
Please note these instructions are valid for the Myanmar tourist e-Visa. If travelers wish to obtain a work permit online to complete a particular project within the country, then they would need to apply for a Myanmar electronic business visa.
Burma eVisa From Bangladesh: Required Documents
Before applying for an eVisa, travelers need to make sure that they are able to comply with the Myanmar visa requirements for Bangladeshi nationals. These terms and conditions consist of having a valid Bangladeshi passport, an unexpired credit or debit card for the visa fee payment, and an active email address for receiving visa approval and obtaining any information regarding the eVisa.
The applicant’s passport must be valid for 6 months or more after entering Myanmar. It also has to contain at least one empty page for stamps issued at border control. Note that passport is the only accepted travel document for Bangladeshi citizens visiting Myanmar.
In addition, Bangladeshi passport holders must meet Myanmar eVisa evidence requirements and provide a scanned color copy of the biographical page of the passport along with a passport-style color photo not older than 3 months. It is not necessary to attach these two items at the time of application and they can be forwarded by email at a later date.
Important: travelers applying for a business electronic visa will need to meet the conditions established for this specific permit, such as the submission of a business invitation letter to enter Myanmar.
