Myanmar eVisa Requirements for Belgians
In 2019 alone, almost 2 million international visitors traveled to Myanmar, which included almost 6,000 eligible travelers from Belgium. This recent uptick in tourism to Burma is due to the southeast Asian country opening its doors in 2011 after being closed for 50 years to international foreigners.
To facilitate this influx of international arrivals, the government of Myanmar launched a new electronic visa produce to make traveling to the country easier, cheaper, and more accessible. This system is currently known as the eVisa to Myanmar, which is available to eligible nationals from Belgian.
Burma eVisa Types for Belgian Nationals
Belgian travelers are eligible to travel to Burma for either touristic purposes such as sightseeing or leisure or for business purposes where a Belgian visitor is invited to attend a business trip.
The reason for traveling to the southeast Asian country must be decided before a Belgian citizen applies for the eVisa as different types of eVisa to Myanmar serve for the different traveling purposes.
The most sought-after eVisa type for Belgian visitors is the Myanmar Tourist eVisa.
Conditions of the Burma tourist eVisa for Belgians
The tourist eVisa type allows a Belgian citizen single entry into the country with a maximum allowed a stay of 28 consecutive days over a total visa validity period of 90 days from the date of approval.
Belgians must note that if they want to leave Burma, after entering with the single-entry tourist eVisa, and then re-enter, they must apply again for a tourist eVisa to Myanmar.
Conditions of the Burma Business eVisa for Belgians
The business eVisa type also authorizes a single-entry permit, however, the maximum allowed stay is slightly greater than the tourist eVisa. With a business eVisa, Belgian travelers can stay for a maximum of 70 consecutive days over a total visa validity period of 90 days.
If Belgian business travelers also leave the country and later need to enter a second time, they will also require to apply for another business e-Visa to Myanmar.
Requirements for a Myanmar eVisa for Belgian Citizens
There are several Myanmar eVisa entry requirements, which need to be fulfilled and met before a Belgian visitor applies for an eVisa to Myanmar via the online application form.
These prerequisites are slightly different depending on the type of eVisa.
Burma online tourist visa prerequisites for Belgium
The following prerequisites are deemed 100% mandatory to successfully receive an approved tourist eVisa to Burma:
- A lawful Belgian passport. The expiry date of the current passport must have at least 6 months’ validity from the expected arrival date into Burma
- A copy or scanned image of the biographical page of the passport where all the personal information is shown
- Passport number and expiry date of the passport
- Full name
- Date of birth
- A passport-size photo must also be submitted. The photo must follow the photo Burma eVisa guidelines set in place by the provided by the government
- A working email address so that the approved e-visa can be electronically sent to the email provided by the Belgian applicant
- A valid debit or credit card. Payment of the eVisa processing fee will be required at the end of the eVisa application form
Myanmar business eVisa conditions for Belgians
For a Belgian business traveler to travel with an authorized business eVisa to Myanmar, they must upload and submit the same requirements mentioned before plus the following:
- A Myanmar business letter of invitation from the relevant registered company in Burma
- The registration number of the Burmese company
- A certificate of incorporation (for a local company) or a certificate of registration of branch office (for Foreign Investment Company)
If a Belgian passport holder fails to comply with the abovementioned Burma requirements, for either the tourist eVisa or the full requirements of the business eVisa, they could face eVisa refusal or entry refusal into the country.
How Can Belgians Apply for a Myanmar eVisa?
Belgians can apply online via the electronic Myanmar application form. Completing the straightforward form takes a matter of minutes once after a Belgian passport holder has familiarized themselves with all the requirements needed to successfully received their approved eVisa.
Belgian foreigners may also be required to accurately answer some health and safety questions throughout the online visa form. This is to ensure that the traveler is fit for travel before arriving in the country.
It may be also necessary for Belgian citizens to check beforehand if there are any vaccinations for Myanmar which may also be needed to take into consideration.
Belgians Traveling to Burma With Minors
It is possible for parents/guardians from Belgium to travel to Burma with minors. However, it should be noted that each individual, including minors, will need to apply for their Burmese eVisa application.
This is because the electronic travel permit is linked directly to the individual’s passport. Belgian applicants must travel with the same passport used to apply for the e-Visa to Myanmar.
