Myanmar eVisa for Brazilians

After more than 50 years of being closed to visitors, Myanmar (Burma) opened its borders to international travelers in 2011. Myanmar is known for its wildlife, national parks, ancient palaces and pagodas, pristine beaches, and rich traditions, and attracts many tourists every year.

International visitors are allowed to enter Myanmar at one of the following ports of entry:

  • Nay Pyi Taw International Airport
  • Mandalay International Airport
  • Kawthaung Land Border Checkpoint
  • Myawaddy Land Border Checkpoint
  • Tachileik Land Border Checkpoint
  • Rihkhawdar Land Border Checkpoint

Visiting the country has become a much easier process since the introduction of Myanmar online visa in 2014. Travelers from over 100 countries can simply apply for an online travel authorization from the comfort of their homes.

This change means there is no need to visit an embassy or consulate to apply for a Myanmar visa for Brazil. The eVisa fully replaces the traditional paper Myanmar visa for Brazilian citizens.

It is important to keep in mind that Myanmar visa for Brazilians does not guarantee the right to enter the country. The final decision is made by the immigration official at the Myanmar border. However, a rejection when having a Burma electronic travel permit us unlikely.

Myanmar Visa: How to Apply as a Brazilian Citizen?

All travelers from Brazil need a visa for Myanmar. The only exception is children under the age of 7 who share their parents’ passports. In this case, it is sufficient to fill in the minors section in the application form on behalf of the child.

There are two types of Myanmar visa for Brazilians: tourist visa and business visa. Application requirements for the two visa types are fairly similar. In both cases, Brazilian passport holders are asked to:

  • Duly fill out the online form on the Myanmar Online Visa website
  • Provide a copy of the passport
  • Provide a recent color passport-size photograph
  • Pay an application fee online
  • Receive the eVisa approval by email

Filling out the online application form is a simple process that takes only a few minutes to complete. Candidates must fill out some essential personal and passport details, including their name, place and date of birth, nationality, passport number, and passport issue and expiry dates. They are also required to answer several security questions.

After having confirmed that all the information provided in the form is correct, applicants can proceed to pay the eVisa processing fee. Payment can be done using any major credit or debit card through a secure online system.

Brazilian travelers will be sent their eVisa approval by email in a matter of days. While a tourist visa grants a stay of up to 28 days, a business visa for Myanmar allows travelers to remain in the country for up to 70 days. Please note that Myanmar online travel authorization is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

It is advisable to print out the eVisa and show it to the immigration official at the border, alongside the Brazilian passport. From this point on, citizens of Brazil are able to enjoy the trip to Myanmar without any other procedure been necessary.

Myanmar Online Visa Documents to Present from Brazil

In order to submit a Myanmar visa application from Brazil, travelers must hold an unexpired passport valid for 6 months or more after the date of arrival to Myanmar. There must be at least one blank passport page left for the stamps issued at border control.

If the passport is expiring earlier or has no remaining blank pages, it is necessary to obtain a new one before starting the application process.

Furthermore, applicants need to hold a valid credit or debit card to pay for the visa processing fee. An active email address is also mandatory for receiving all the relevant information and eVisa approval.

Myanmar Visa on Arrival for Nationals of Brazil

Currently, citizens of only 7 countries can apply for a Burma visa on arrival as an eVisa alternative. Brazil is not among those countries and tourists are required to travel on a Myanmar online travel authorization.

However, business travelers from Brazil are an exception. They are eligible to apply for a visa on arrival. Nevertheless, in order to avoid any delays and long waiting lines at the border, travelers are advised to apply for a business eVisa before their trip.
