Do Danish Passport Holders Need a Visa for Myanmar?

Danish travelers must obtain an online Myanmar visa for if they wish to visit the country for tourism or business. The government of Myanmar can only issue a single-entry eVisa for stays of maximum 28 days (tourist visa) or 70 days (business visa).

There are several requirements for Myanmar visa that must be met before applying for an eVisa. These requirements include having a Danish passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity (after entering the country) and one blank page. In addition, applicants need to answer a couple of health-related and security questions.

Among the information that needs to be filled in the application form is the following:

  • Full name, gender, place of birth, date of birth, and nationality
  • Address, email, and telephone number
  • Passport country, number, and dates of issue and expiry
  • Dates of entry and leaving Myanmar, or estimates if travel plans are not finalized

All the information is screened using security databases when the application is processed. Eight countries are eligible for obtaining a Myanmar visa on arrival to one of its three international airports: China, Germany, Australia, India, Italy, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland. Denmark is currently not among the countries eligible for a visa on arrival. Therefore, its nationals must obtain an online visa prior to traveling to Myanmar.

In addition to Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, and Mandalay international airports, Danish holders of an eVisa are allowed to enter the country also at one of Thailand land border checkpoints (Kawthaung, Myawaddy, and Tachileik) and India land border checkpoints (Rihkhawdar and Tamu). Bangladesh, Laos, and China land borders are currently closed to visitors.
