Myanmar eVisa  for Egyptian Nationals

In the past decade Myanmar (formerly Burma) has become an attractive tourist destination in Asia. Several millions of visitors from all over the world travel to Myanmar every year to admire the country’s natural beauty, its temples and palaces, and learn more about its rich culture.

Myanmar has land borders with India, China, Bangladesh, Laos, and Thailand. Eight ports of entry are currently open to foreigners, including 3 international airports (Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, and Mandalay) and several checkpoints at land borders with Thailand (Kawthaung, Myawaddy, and Tachileik) and India (Rihkhawdar and Tamu). Note that entering the country by sea or via land borders with Bangladesh, Laos, and China is not possible at this time.

Myanmar visa application from Egypt is very simple. Completing and submitting the online application form takes only a few minutes. In addition, the application can be done from anywhere in the world and candidates are not required to be in Egypt at the time of application.

Do Egyptian Passport Holders Need a Visa for Myanmar?

Citizens of 100 countries including Egypt are eligible to apply for a Myanmar eVisa. Visa for Myanmar for Egyptian citizens is available for any travel with tourism or leisure purposes with a duration of 28 days or less.

Note: Currently there is an electronic travel option to enter Myanmar for work endeavors, which is the electronic Myanmar business visa. This permit has its own conditions and terms that must be revised and completed accordingly.

In order to apply for an online travel authorization, Egyptian passport holders must meet a number of requirements for Myanmar visa for Egyptians. They need to hold a passport valid for at least 6 months after entering Myanmar. The passport should also have at least one blank page for any stamps that will be issued at the Myanmar border.

Furthermore, Egyptian nationals must hold a valid payment card, either debit or credit, to pay for the eVisa processing fee online. All major payment cards are accepted, including Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB, Maestro, Discover, Diners Club, Alipay, and Unionpay.

An active email address is required given that all the visa-related correspondence is done by email. The eVisa approval is sent to the applicant’s email address as well.

How to Apply for a Myanmar Visa From Egypt?

The Myanmar eVisa application form can be accessed through the main page of the official Myanmar Online Visa website. Every traveler, except for minors who are registered on their parent’s or guardian’s passport, needs to complete an individual application form.

Applicants are asked to provide several personal and passport details in the application form, such as:

  • Complete name, date and place of birth, gender, nationality, and contact information
  • Passport country, passport number, and dates of passport issue and expiry

Additionally, they need to answer several security-related questions and prepare two additional Myanmar eVisa evidence documents:

The applicant can choose to either attach these documents to the application or to forward them by email at a later date. Candidates with a child registered on their passport also need to fill in the minors section of the application form.

It is also highly recommended to review information related to the vaccines needed to enter the country since there might be some restrictions in place.

Myanmar eVisa processing time is very short. Most applicants will receive their visa approval within 3 business days. If some of the information provided in the application form is incorrect or inconsistent with the passport information, the response may be delayed.

In some cases, the eVisa application can be rejected, although this is very rare. It is essential to make sure that all the details given in the application form are correct to the best of the applicant’s knowledge.

Myanmar visa for Egyptian nationals is valid for 90 days from the date it was issued. Please note that if the visa has not been used within this period, the traveler needs to apply for a new visa. Myanmar government issues only single-entry visas. Visitors from Egypt must, therefore, apply for a new single-entry visa each time they wish to travel to Myanmar.

Myanmar Visa on Arrival for Egyptian Nationals

The Myanmar visa on arrival is offered to nationals of a few countries. Egyptian nationals are not eligible for a visa on arrival. If they wish to travel to Myanmar, therefore, they are required to apply for an online travel authorization.
