Myanmar Visa for Pakistani Citizens

Myanmar (Burma) opened its borders to foreign visitors in 2011. In 2014, Myanmar government introduced an electronic travel authorization for nationals of over 100 countries, including Pakistan. The authorization is meant to simplify the process of obtaining a visa for eligible travelers.

Pakistani citizens who wish to visit Myanmar for tourism can apply for a Myanmar eVisa from Pakistan online, using their computer, tablet, or mobile phone. There is no need for contacting an embassy or consulate prior to the trip.

The application can be filled in and submitted from anywhere in the world. This is particularly convenient for Pakistani citizens who travel frequently or reside far from a Myanmar representation.

Pakistani nationals are allowed to stay in Myanmar for a maximum of 28 days. At this time Myanmar issues only single-entry tourist visas. There is no possibility to extend the tourist visa, and travelers need to start a new application process from outside the country. The Myanmar eVisa is valid for 90 days from the day of the issue.

Please note that only certain Myanmar ports of entry are open to foreign visitors, namely:

  • Myanmar-Thailand land border checkpoints: Kawthaung, Myawaddy, and Tachileik
  • Myanmar-India land border checkpoints: Rihkhawdar and Tamu
  • International airports: Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, and Mandalay

It is currently not possible to enter the country by sea or through land borders with Laos, Bangladesh, and China.

Myanmar Visa Documents and Conditions for Pakistanis

Pakistani travelers must meet several Myanmar visa requirements in order to be granted a visa. Pakistanis need to have a passport with a minimum validity of six months from the date of arrival to Myanmar. Please note that only passports are accepted as proof of nationality. Using any other ID documents when applying for an eVisa or traveling will result in rejection of the application and denied entry at the Myanmar border.

Pakistani nationals are also required to have an active email address. All the notifications regarding the eVisa and the visa approval are sent electronically.

Finally, it is necessary to be in possession of a valid payment card, either debit or credit, to pay for the eVisa processing fee online.

Candidates who fulfill all the above requirements can proceed to fill out the application form for a Burma visa from Pakistan.
