Myanmar eVisa for Spanish Citizens
The Myanmar eVisa was launched in 2014 with the purpose to simplify the process of visiting the country. The online visa is an electronic travel authorization that allows citizens of more than 100 countries, including Spain, to travel to Myanmar (formerly known as Burma).
Considering that over 10,000 Spanish travelers visited the country in 2018, an online visa is an adequate solution for applicants who need a prompt response.
Spanish nationals who wish to visit Myanmar for tourism or business are eligible to apply for a Burma visa from Spain. They can enter the country through the following ports of entry: Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, and Mandalay international airports; Thailand land border checkpoints of Kawthaung, Myawaddy, and Tachileik; and India land border checkpoints of Rihkhawdar and Tamu.
The Myanmar eVisa application process is very simple. It takes around 20 minutes to complete through a secure online platform, while the delivery time varies from 1 to 3 business days only. There is no need to visit or contact the Myanmar Embassy in order to apply for a visa online. This is particularly convenient for Spanish travelers who do not live close to a Myanmar representation or who are staying abroad at the time of the visa application.
Tourist visa for Myanmar is valid for 28 days counting from entry date, while a business visa is valid for 70 days. Both visas allow only one entry to the country. Visitors who wish to extend their stay in Myanmar must apply for a new visa.
Myanmar Visa Requirements for Spanish Nationals
Travelers applying for a Myanmar eVisa from Spain must have a stable internet connection to be able to access the online form. In addition, applicants need to have a valid Spanish passport with at least 6 months’ validity after entering Myanmar.
An active email address is also necessary to obtain confirmations and to apply and pay for the visa, information regarding the application status, and visa approval. The visa processing fee is paid online, therefore, the applicant needs to have an unexpired credit or debit card. All the major payment cards are accepted as payment methods, including Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Maestro, etc.
Myanmar or Burma visa requirements for Spanish citizens include providing a scanned copy of the biographical page of the passport, along with a recent passport-style color photo. These additional documents can be either attached to the application or submitted separately at a later date. It is advised to pay special attention to the photo ID requirements to avoid possible issues with the visa application.
Apply for a Myanmar Visa From Spain
To successfully apply for a Myanmar visa online for Spanish nationals, applicants need to go to the Myanmar Visa Online website, click on the “Apply for Myanmar eVisa” button on the top of the page, and fill in the application form.
Candidates are asked to provide a number of personal and passport details in the application. Those details include the following:
- Full name, exactly as it is written in the passport
- Date of birth
- Country of nationality
- Contact information
- Passport number
- Country of the passport (it must correspond to the country of nationality)
- Passport issue date
- Passport expiry date
Travelers are also asked to answer a few health- and security-related questions, indicate the type of visa they wish to apply for (tourist or business) and travel dates. These dates can be an estimate if travel plans are not finalized.
All visitors need to submit an individual eVisa application form. The exception are children under the age of 7 traveling with their parent or guardian, who are included in the parent’s or guardian’s passport. They do not require a separate visa application as long as the minor section of the online application form is filled in. Children aged 7 and above, and all minors who have their own passport must apply for an eVisa.
Once the submitted information has been reviewed and confirmed, the applicant can proceed with the online visa fee payment and submit the form.
Myanmar online visa is, in most cases, processed within 72 hours. The travel authorization is sent to the email address provided in the application form. The visa should be printed out and presented at the border along with the Spanish passport used for the application. From this point on, travelers are able to enjoy a safety leisure or business trip in Myanmar.
